DIAGNOSING “UNABLE TO OPEN FILE. ERROR = 702.”
ISSUE
Running TheSky, you may encounter the error “Unable to open file. Error = 702.” This error is rare, and means something is wrong. The error message unfortunately does not give the name or path of the offending file. See the resolution on how to diagnose further.
RESOLUTION
If you encounter error 702, immediately open the log file “LogFileOpen.txt” found in your ASF folder. The last entry in this log file is (most likely) the offending file.
Once you find the file name and path, go to the operating system file explorer utilities and find the identical file and open it. Normally this will flush out why TheSky cannot open the file.
Unfortunately there are many circumstances/reasons for this error. The most common is that the file is missing (was it accidentally deleted). Other reasons might be wrong access/permissions on the file. Finally, you may get this error, if the file is remote, in the cloud, on a mapped networked drive or say on redirected, network based documents/home folder and that network connection is lost.
