INSTALLATION SETUP QUITS AT 100% (OR LESS)
ISSUE
During setup, the InstallShield Wizard’s progress indicator gets to 100% and the system stops responding. If the user chooses the Restore command from the window’s system menu, setup shows the initial screen then freezes. No error messages are displayed. Some users have reported that setup continues, however, it takes extremely long time before setup continues (about 5 minutes), or the system continues to have hard disk and/or CD-ROM activity.
RESOLUTION
1. Make sure SHARE.EXE is in the AUTOEXEC.BAT. (Simply running SHARE.EXE at the command line will fix the installation, but TheSky may also need SHARE to run so put in autoexec.bat. Software Bisque has not verified that TheSky needs SHARE to run.)
–OR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING–
(Some users may actually have to DISABLE SHARE for these to work.)
IF YOU ARE INSTALLING FROM THE FLOPPY DISKS
2. Create a temporary folder on your hard disk and copy the contents of floppy Disk 1 to this folder. Next, delete the file _ISDEL.EXE from this folder. Then, run setup.exe from the temporary folder to complete the installation (when prompted for Disk 2, direct to the floppy drive and finish installing from there).IF YOU ARE INSTALLING FROM THE CD-ROM DISK
2. Run SETUP.EXE from the SHARE folder on the CD-ROM.Once the installation is complete, you can delete the temporary folder.
If you are running on Win32s, make sure 32-bit disk access and 32-bit file access are disabled in the 386 enh section of the control panel (this may not be present in Windows 3.1).
TO DISABLE 32-BIT DISK ACCESS
Start the 386 Enhanced application from the Control Panel and click Virtual Memory…, then click the Change>> button. Turn off the 32-bit disk access and 32-bit file access options (Note: if your hard disk does not support 32-bit file access, the 32-bit file access option will be dimmed).FYI: InstallShield’s setup program is the only commercially available installation program that is completely compatible with Windows 95 and endorsed by Microsoft. Unfortunately, running setup.exe (a native 32-bit application) under Windows 3.1x may have the above initialization problem. Software Bisque strongly recommends that our customers upgrade to Windows 95 to avoid problems with running 32-bit applications on a 16-bit operating systems such as Windows 3.1x.
