SYSTEM HAS NEWER DCOM95.EXE THAN INSTALLATION
ISSUE
While installing a Software Bisque 32-bit application (e.g. TheSky v5), a message is displayed:
“If you want to replace a newer version of DCOM95.EXE with an older one, you must first uninstall the newer version.” (approximate wording)
Upon selecting OK, the installation finishes.
RESOLUTION
This Microsoft message indicates that the user’s system already contains a newer version of the file than that which would have been installed for the application. This does not indicate a problem, rather it is meant to inform the user of the situation and instruct them how to proceed should they want to replace the newer file with the older one. However, replacing a newer file with an older one is to be avoided in almost every case!
The user can safely ignore the message and proceed normally; the newer file will remain intact on their system.
