      CCDSOFT TAKES UNNECESSARY DARK FRAMES

      ISSUE

With CCDSoft configured to automatically re-use dark frames, even when the camera temperature stays within the specified range, new dark frames are oftentimes taken unnecessarily.

      RESOLUTION

A dark frame is re-used only if all of certain criteria match in a subsequent exposure. If even one criterion does not match, then a new dark frame is taken. Following is a list of the criteria:

      1. Image Height
      2. Image Width
      3. Image Exposure Time
      4. Camera Temperature (allowable difference defined under Camera, Setup, Allowable Temperature Difference)
      5. Anti-blooming State
      6. Partial Rectangle

If you believe that your dark frames should be re-used more frequently than they are, then you should consider increasing the allowable temperature difference (e.g. double it).
