THESKY TAKES AN EXTREMELY LONG TIME TO LAUNCH

ISSUE

User double-clicks TheSky’s icon, the splash screen appears and after 7 minutes the tips window appears. Clicking OK on the Tip of the Day window another 4 minutes passes before TheSky is ready to use.

This problem is coupled with odd behavior when displaying stars and other objects. Long white streaks from the stars to the edge of the screen might appear.

RESOLUTION

If TheSky for Macintosh requires an extremely long time to start (approximately 10 minutes), check the number of fonts installed on the users system.

If there are many (hundreds) of fonts installed, TheSky requires a great amount of time to enumerate all the fonts before launching. As a temporary solution, the user can uninstall most of the fonts.
