SERIAL NUMBER REJECTED BY THESKY VERSION 4’S INSTALL PROGRAM
ISSUE
During installation of TheSky, after entering the user information and serial number, a message appears:
Warning – ( ! ) The serial number: (number) is not valid.
You must have a valid serial number to receive technical support.
( OK )
RESOLUTION
Check the following:
-
Is the number being entered in its entirety? (Dashes and preceding zeros must be included).
-
Does the number begin with “SKY-?” If so, and TheSky is of a version 4 series, then the number is not compatible. Provide Software Bisque with the invalid number, and they will issue a new, correct serial number.
-
If this a Level III v4 CD-ROM, it may be of a run which doesn’t accept serial numbers greater than 6201 (files on this CD-ROM are dated 1997 Mar 07). If so, provide Software Bisque with the “invalid” number, and they will issue a new, correct serial number.
NOTE: TheSky Version 4 does not require a valid serial number to complete the installation (only a non-blank entry), nor will the operation of TheSky Version 4 be “crippled” in any manner without a valid serial number. Simply choosing OK from the Warning dialog will continue the installation process. In this case, “Unregistered User” will appear when viewing the Help, About TheSky information box, and Software Bisque may request proof of purchase when technical support or product upgrades are sought.
