STAR SHADOWS APPEAR WHEN BINNING 2X2 ON ST-8

      ISSUE

When an ST-8 image is binned in the 2×2 mode, the stellar images appear to have a shadow (streak). This was a known problem with ST7.DLL when reading out images from the ST-8 and was resolved in the 16-bit software.

      RESOLUTION

CCDSoft needs to add an option to remove the “smudging” to the right of the stars when taking binned exposures on Non-ABG ST-7/8. Again, this phenomena only occurs on non-ABG ST-7/8 in binnned modes. (If you would like a technical explanation please contact SBIG). The option should be available in CCDSoft late November on the web. The option will be called “Non-ABG Streak Removal” and you will want to set it to YES.
