      INSTALLING RAS CAUSES GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT

      ISSUE

      During installation of the Remote Astronomy Software, the error message “Shadow caused a general protection fault at xxxx:xxxxx” (some specifiec address). This message may be followed by other general protection fault messages.

      RESOLUTION

      If the installation program causes a general protection fault of any kind, have the user do the following:
      1. Reboot the machine.
      2. Delete all files from her/his temporary folder (usually C:/WINDOWS/TEMP or C:/TEMP).
      3. Run install again.
