ISSUE

Will Software Bisque be offering the RealSky CD product in the future?

RESOLUTION

The Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) has discontinued the RealySky and RealSkyView products, and, as Software Bisque understands, does not have plans to manufacture or distribute the product in the future. All of the ASP's RealSky CD product inventory has been sold.

Background:  RealSky CD is a product of the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (AURA) and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP). The ASP manufactured, distributed and marketed and sold this product. Software Bisque was a RealSky CD product reseller only. (Note: The RealSky CD data discs (1-18) are copyright (c) 1996-1997, AURA, the RealSkyView software is copyright (c) by the ASP.)

Software Bisque does not own the RealSky DSS data, nor does it have permission to distribute this copyrighted data (and has been unable to obtain permission to distribute the data).

Therefore, Software Bisque will not be selling the RealSky CD product in the foreseeable future, and, due to copyright limitations, cannot distribute the complete RealSky data with its products.

As of May, 2010, Software Bisque offers TheSkyX Professional Edition Database Add On (Mac and Windows) that includes the 10x Palomar Sky Survey.  TheSkyX Database Add On Documentation.
