HOW CAN THE NORTH (OR SOUTH) CELESTIAL POLE BE DISPLAYED THESKY6?
ISSUE
How can I show the location of the North (or South) Celestial Pole in TheSky6?
RESOLUTION
TheSky6, by default, does not include the North and South Celestial Poles as separate objects or labels. They can be added “user-defined” objects or labels, or you can load a special “Sky Database” that defines and labels the position of these two points.
To download and show the “Pole Indicators” Sky Database:
-
Download the file named Pole Indicators.zip and then click Save to this file to a folder on your computer. Make a note of this folder.
-
Unzip Pole Indicators.zip to the /Software Bisque/TheSky6/User/SDBs folder.
-
Launch TheSky6, and then click Data | Sky Database Manager.
-
Select the file Pole Indicators.sdb and then click Add (or double-click on the file to automatically add it to the Active Sky Databases list).
-
Click OK.
-
Click File | Save to save these changes.
TheSky6 will now show a text label at the “North Celestial Pole” and “South Celestial Pole”.
To locate these positions:
-
Click Edit | Find.
-
Navigate to the Sky Databases (SDBs) | Pole Indicators node, select the desired North or South Celestial Pole “object”, and then click Center and Frame.
