UNABLE TO GENERATE PRINTED SKY CHART WITH ONLY DOUBLE STARS
ISSUE
Generating a star chart with all objects types but double stars turned off shows a blank screen.
RESOLUTION
The current field of view and the visibility of the object type “Star” determines whether or not double star “symbols” are displayed at a given field of view. Make sure that the field of view is between 2 and 50 degrees to show or print double star symbols.
To generate a star chart that shows distinct double stars at less than 20 degree field, then the Object Type “Star” must be visible. Click View | Display Explorer, and mark the “Star” option.
Background
Individual double star “symbols” (two circles representing a yellow star overlapping a blue star) are only displayed at fields of view between 20 and 50 degrees when the object type “Star” is visible. Double star symbols are displayed between 50 and 2 degrees fields if the object type “Star” is not visible.
Double star symbols are automatically turned off at fields wider than 50 degrees. At fields less that 20 degrees, double stars are represented as separate, distinct objects of type “Star” instead of a single symbol of type “Double Star”. Lines connect stars in double and multiple star systems.
This behavior is by design.
