GUIDE TO APPEARS TO BE OFF IN RA

ISSUE

When using the Guide To to find an object, it appears as though the end result is off in RA, and declination is OK.

RESOLUTION

When using the GuideTo with a telescope link, be sure to complete the RA axis first, and do it relatively quickly. Once the RA is complete and the telescope RA clutch is locked down, the scope can then track in the RA axis and time is no longer a factor. The RA coordinate is not continually recalculated as the destination coordinate during a GuideTo. Therefore, as time goes by, the RA destination coordinate becomes increasingly off. For example, if one minute of time goes by before someone finally finishes the RA axis in the GuideTo and looks into the eyepiece, that equates to being off one minute of RA. One minute of RA is 15 arc-minutes (degrees vs. hours). On a 30 minute FOV, this may put the object outside the eyepiece.
