Hi,

several years ago I bought TheSky6 Pro for Windows.

Now I've finally migrated to Apple's Mac OSX (currently running OSX 10.6.4), and would like to side-grade to TheSkyX Pro

What is the cost involved?

i couldn't find the answer neither in the FAQs, nor in the knowledge base

I am thinking seriously about upgrading from TheSky6Pro and TheSkyX SA to TheSkyX Pro.

I'm trying to find out if X Pro supports ASCOM and in particular, EQMOD ASCOM; since I use the ATLAS EQ-G with an ED127APO fro Explore-Scientific.

Any answers?

Paramount ME Pointing Issues with ACP

My Paramount generally points well when driven directly by TheSky 6 and a good T-Point model. However, when using ACP the pointing is very erratic, many times with pointing errors of 4 to 8 arc minutes. It is remotely possible that one of the settings in TheSky6 or ACP is incorrect. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming the settings are OK, can you suggest a test or data collection routine that could issolate the issue between the driver and the ACP software? My ME is one with the older electronics and a serial interface.

Another clue may be that it also works poorly with the ACP Corrector routine for pointing corrections. The ACP pointing model does not get updated properly even with the T-Point model deactivated and a sync allowed. Thanks for the help.

Upgrade to pro while changing from Windows PC to Mac Pro

Currently licensed for Version 5 windows based but PC crashed and now running a Mac Pro. Would like to get the upgrade to Pro edition to run on the Mac. The options for the upgrade seems to be only for the windows version. Can I get the Mac version or do I have to upgrade the windows and purchase the additional 6 computer license even though I will not be using the pc based system?

Reading back through some of the prior posts I see that you feel USPS is inadequate for shipping. I have never had a problem with insured and tracked USPS post to or from Canada for that matter, but you likely have shipped more than I have. At any rate, the $95 that UPS charges is quite obscene but so be it if the $95 covers all import duties, brokerage fees, and taxes? There is absolutely no further cost involved?

T-point & polar aligning

I`m now thinking of purchasing the T-point addition for my The Sky X SAE (Mac version) to improve the pointing of my present CG-5 mount for one & was wondering about the polar aligning facility. I understand you can "quantify" PA (i.e ..it`ll tell me the error..) but this dosen`t involve a proceedure for polar alignment without drift aligning I guess? As CGEM mounts are prohibitively priced here in Australia I`m thinking of the possibility of a Eq-6 mount which dosen`t have Celestron`s All Star PA option..

Sky Version V Windows now upgrade to SkyX Pro on Mac

I called SB office and was advised that I should download the upgrade for Mac and the system would accept my registration for Sky Version V windows. It downloads but will not run apparently because it does not see a prior version on my Mac. I have tried removing the download and redoing it from scratch and that does not work either. How can I get this to run?

TheSkyX and Basic Camera Add On

TheSkyX Professional Edition includes a Basic Camera Add On that can be used to SBIG cameras on Mac and Windows, or any CCDSoft for Windows-supported camera.

In my case, when I tried to use the "Basic Camera Add On", it ask me for a serial number. I set the same as for TheSkyX Professional but it doesn't work. Now I'm working on "90-days Trial mode".

What's wrong with this?

On the other case, I haven't seen any option (on SB website9 to register or purchase this "Add On".

importing jpg from thesky6

In thesky6 I there were jpg images in a folder under thesky6/data/pictures that showed up in thesky and I was able to use to help frame images before shooting. How do I get these to show in theskyX prof? Is there a way to import all these or do they exist in theskyX and I missed them. They were a great part of the software. Now I just get a blue glow in place of actual images.

Installing on Two Computers

I am interested in the SkyX Serious edition. I would need to install it on my laptop for use with the telescope, but I also wish to run it on my desktop for purposes of planning sessions and so forth.

Does the license allow the software to be installed on two computers like this? Or would I be required to purchase two licenses in order to do that?

I am struggling to get all of my astronomy-related software to run on my new Windows 7 computer, which will replace an old XP machine. The Sky Six is OK until I try to connect to my Takahashi EM-200 mount. Is a new Temma 2 driver required for the 64-bit Windows 7?

Trouble registering TPoint for upgrade

I'm going to upgrade my TheSky-6 Professional to X-Professional, and also the TPoint software.

I have already registered TheSky-6, but I have troubles registering the TPoint software.

I did install TPoint long time ago and I cannot find the license number at present. I get it included in a CD-ROM (together with some other packages) enclosed in my Paramount case.

How can I get that license number for registering? Is there any serial number in the Paramount that I could use for that?

ISSUE

Launching TheSkyX for Windows crashes immediately with the error message "TheSkyX <Edition Name Here> has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Important note for this issue: TheSkyX does not ask for a serial number for this issue.

RESOLUTION

Mac OS X

This issue does not apply to TheSkyX for Mac.

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Window 7, All 32-bit and 64-bit Editions

First, update the computer's video driver. If the behavior persists, make sure that the computer meets TheSkyX's minumum system requirements. Specifically, the computer's main processor must support the SSE2 instruction set. Pentium III processor, and AMD processors manufactured before 2004, do not support the SSE2 instruction set.

Attempting to run TheSkyX on a computer that does not support SSE2 will cause TheSkyX to crash before requesting a serial number.

To Determine SSE2 Compatibility:

Run the CPU-Z application to determine which "instruction sets" are supported by the computer's processor.
On the CPU tab of CPU-Z application, next to the Instructions text box, the text SSE (1, 2...) must appear. See the highlighted area in the CPU-Z screen shot below.

If SSE (1) or SSE appears in this field, then the computer does not meet the minimum system requirements to run TheSkyX. A computer that has a main processor manufactured after 2003 is required to run TheSkyX.

Here in New Zealand our domestic 'plug-in' power supply is 230 VAC/50 hertz

So as to ensure I can 'plug-in and play' what changes/hardware (plug adapters etc) will be necessary?

OpenGL on ATI Radeon X 1200

I was not able to locate the SkyX Compatibility Test on you site. Is OpenGL implemented in software or hardware? I can find no assistance on the ATI site. If special hardware is required, the compatibility test will probably set status. If there is a software implementation, how would one locate the application? My computer is a laptop (64 bit Dell 1721), so replacing the display hardware is probably not an option.

CCDSoft and TheSky-X integration

In a different thread you said: "... and are now working on replacing CCDSoft for Windows, Orchestrate for Windows and AutomaDome for Windows in TheSkyX Pro with the Scripting Add On, and the Camera Add On and the Dome Add On, respectively."

What does it mean for present CCDSoft user working with TheSky-X? Is the integration of both packages 100% (image link, plate solve, etc.)? On my present CCDSoft there isn't an option for TheSkyX in the "server settings".

What new features will provide the future Camera Add On? (Also a very interesting information to know for the Scripting Add On).
